Scone-based Charter Operator Airspeed Aviation has confirmed plans to open a flying school in Tamworth. Chief Flying Instructor Ben Wyndham stated that the company has had preliminary talks with CASA, identified suitable premises and completed the submission for CASA approval.

“Tamworth Aero Club Flying School approached us last month and has been very supportive of our entry to the Tamworth market” Mr Wyndham said.

The flying school operation will initially be based at the Aero Club Flying School to gauge demand and will seek bigger premises if warranted.

Airspeed Aviation has operated Charter flights from Tamworth since 2009 and has been a member of the Tamworth Chamber of Commerce since last year.
